WHY!?!

From NewsInFilm.com
byJeff Leins
"In July, producer and agent Erwin Stoff started talking about a live-action Cowboy Bebop adaption he was working on with Fox. Since he’s the agent for Keanu Reeves and produces just about all of his movies, naturally speculation turned to Reeves starring.
Six months later, Fox is officially announcing the project with Keanu Reeves attached as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter born on Mars and a crew member aboard the spaceship Bebop in 2071. Spiegel’s rebellious attitude and smoking habit are an homage to Bob Dylan, and the character’s name is likely derived from director Spike Jonze (his birth name was Adam Spiegel). Reeves himself is half-Asian and also has crazy black hair.
Peter Craig has been hired to adapt a screenplay of the popular Japanese anime series. He’ll work closely with Sunrise Inc., the production company for the series.
Bebop joins a rapidly growing list of anime adaptations coming together in Hollywood, including the ridiculous looking Dragonball, a Ninja Scroll movie, an animated Astro Boy, DreamWork’s Ghost in the Shell 3-D project, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s production work on a new Akira. "

If anyone needs me I'll be curled up in the corner, weeping for my fandom. ~Darcy

This is going to be like Constantine where they totally RAPE the original to make some godawful Keanue I Have Dead Eyes Reeves vehicle while I die a little on the inside. The only good thing to come out of Constantine was that Shia LeBeuf got brutally murdered.

Oh GOD. My... my SOUL hurts.

And thanks Jayne, for dredging up that awful Constantine movie. they didn't even pronounce John's last NAME right! Frigging Hollywood. It's "Kon-Stan-Tyne" not "Kon-Stan-Teen".

A British guy who kinda looks like Sting.... Keanu Reeves in L.A. is perfect!
